Carbide band saw blade and cutting brief
Carbide band saw blade and cutting brief description
The main reasons for the difficult processing of high-temperature alloys can be summarized simply in four aspects: First, the material has high high-temperature strength and tends to have a large work hardening tendency. In general, nickel-base superalloy has a unit cutting force 50% higher than that of medium-carbon alloy steel; The surface layer of the work hardening and residual stress, the degree of hardening up to 200% to 500%; Second, poor thermal conductivity, its thermal conductivity is about 1/5 to 1/2 of 45 steel, so the cutting temperature is high; the third is The tendency of the tool to stick is large. It is very easy to produce built-up edge when machining high-temperature alloys, which makes the cutting unstable, which affects the quality of the machined surface. Fourth, the high element content is strengthened. In the alloy, a large number of highly abrasive metal carbides, intermetallic compounds and other hard spots are formed, and the knife has a strong scratching effect.
The cutting of superalloys is the first process in mechanical manufacturing. The traditional cutting process is usually on a horizontal band sawing machine. The ring type bimetal band saw blade is used to cut the bar stock or the blanks of different cross-section parts ( Ordinary alloy tool steel and high-speed steel band saw blades cannot be used for high-temperature alloy cutting. High-performance high-speed steel bi-metal band saw blade (M42 cutting edge material) is used to cut difficult-to-machine high-temperature alloys. Its cutting efficiency is low and its service life is very short. Take a nickel-base superalloy bar with a diameter of 130mm as an example. (Material GH4169), using M42 bi-metal saw blade generally takes about 8 to 10 hours, and the life of a saw blade can only be the next. After that, we use a high-quality super-hard bimetal. The band saw blade (M51) is used to machine the high-temperature alloy bar material of the same specification and same material with the saw blade. The result is a slight improvement in the cutting efficiency and life of the tool.
